An experiment into the light reactivity of matter. A lampshade coated with a special resin changes colour and transparency according to the heat produced by the bulb inside. When it powers on, the lampshade is blue and a small amount of blue light filters in; after a few minutes the light dissolves and the lamp emits a pleasant and neutral white light. This effect has been obtained by applying the flexible and thermo-sensitive blue dye coat resin on the lampshade fabric.
Above 30°C, the blue pigments turn completely white. The goal of the “Alba” project is to utilize the heat that is first generated and then dissipated by the light source to obtain a pleasant luminous effect.
